THE PRIME MINISTER DIRECTIVE No. 20/2000/CT-TTg of October 6, 2000 on enhancing the direction and organization of the implementation of the Government�s Decree No. 19/CP of March 12, 1994 on the work of national defense in the new situation

In order to consolidate the entire people�s national defense and the people�s security posture, firmly ensure political security and social order and safety, create stable environment for the implementation of national industrialization and modernization, the Prime Minister requests the ministries, branches and localities to enhance their leadership, direction, and organization of the implementation of the following tasks: - Raising the quality and efficiency of education on national defense; - Boosting the construction of the entire people�s national defense in close combination with the people�s security posture, closely combining socio-economic development with consolidation of national defense and security during the course of accelerated national industrialization and modernization; - Setting up and raising the general strength, creating a new step of qualitative development and raising the combat strength of local armed forces; - Step by step, perfecting the system of legal documents on national defense work, intensifying the State management over national defense activities; and well implementing the mechanism of "leading by the Party, administering by the Government and consulting by military agency", as determined in Resolution No. 02/BCT of July 30, 1997 of the Party�s Politburo.- (Summary)
